Stand for Democracy — Other 98% teaming up w/ MoveOn, USAction, SEIU and others
Folks across America, who stood up and fought for real change in the last election, have been hit by wave after wave of corporate scandals, disasters, and frightening examples of how our government has been captured by corporate interests. It would be easy to get demoralized and grow apathetic. But . . .
We here at The Other 98% see this present moment as a once in a lifetime opportunity to wrestle our democracy away from corporate lobbyists and back into the hands of We the People. That’s why we’re teaming up with MoveOn, Color of Change, True Majority, USAction, SEIU, and a host of other groups on the “Stand for Democracy” pledge.
Thousands of progressives are online right now at StandForDemocracy.org building a shared blueprint for fixing our Democracy. They are offering their best ideas and rating the ideas of their peers in a process that will yield a list of 20 finalist ideas by next week. Please go to StandForDemocracy.org now and be a part of this process.
Next week we will all vote to determine the 5 ideas that have the best chance of making our democracy work for the other 98% of us. Then we’ll demand that our representatives take the Stand for Democracy Pledge and fight for these principles.
More than 115,000 opinions have been counted already today at StandForDemocracy.org. When you go there you will see the truly democratizing force that The Web can be.
Our country needs big thinking, bold action, and real solutions right now. If we don’t Stand for Democracy now, our children and grandchildren will continue to be short changed by a system rigged by corporate lobbyists.
Let’s Ride!!
