The Army Corps has been ordered to greenlight the Dakota Access Pipeline

BREAKING: In keeping with the Trump administration’s breakneck pace of ruining everything, The Acting Secretary of the Army, Robert Speer, has ordered the Army Corps of Engineers to ignore their commitment to conduct an Environmental Impact Statement, and instead force through the controversial easement that would allow for the construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline.

Once construction proceeds, the pipeline could be completed in a matter of weeks. DAPL workers have been put on standby to resume their drilling under the Missouri River.

From The Hill:

“The Acting Secretary of the Army Robert Speer informed us that he has directed the Army Corps of Engineers to proceed with the easement needed to complete the Dakota Access Pipeline,” Sen. John Hoeven (R-N.D.) said in a Tuesday night statement.

Speer’s order comes one week after President Trump signed a directive instructing the Army Corps to quickly issue a construction easement for a stretch of the Dakota Access pipeline in North Dakota.”Army Corps told to clear way for Dakota Access construction“, The Hill

It is not clear yet if Army Corps officials will comply with this order or, following the brave example of attorney general Sally Yates, disobey.

The Standing Rock Sioux Tribe released a statement contending the Army Corps can’t stop the environmental review or issue the easement without consulting Congress or the tribe first.

“The Standing Rock Sioux Tribe will vigorously pursue legal action to ensure the environmental impact statement order issued late last year is followed so the pipeline process is legal, fair and accurate,” the statement said.

Know someone in the Army Corps of Engineers? Please tell them we’re looking for courageous soldiers to step forward and resist Trump’s immoral orders.
