Scumbag America: Child Poverty

Somehow we can cobble together the money for wars, bank bail-outs, tax cuts for the rich and subsidies for giant oil companies but when it comes to feeding hungry children America is suddenly broke.

The United States ranks near the bottom of the pack of wealthy nations on a measure of child poverty

Nearly one third of U.S. children live in households with an income below 60 percent of the national median income in 2008 – about $31,000 annually.

I don’t know how our leaders think this country is going to remain a super power if we can’t even feed our kids here at home. It’s disgraceful.
